Runway Cleaner

SmartDrive Runway CleanerRubber left by landing aircraft is lifted from the runway surface by a cleaning head carried by a two-axis mechanism, each axis consisting of a pair of DLS belt-driven linear slides linked by a drive shaft. SmartDrive supplied stainless steel bodied servo motors and washdown rated gearboxes to drive each axis along with a chilled stainless steel enclosure mounted on the truck, housing servo drives, a motion controller, emergency stop circuit etc. and a touch-screen HMI mounted in the truck’s cab. Software written by SmartDrive synchronises the movement of the cleaning head to the forward motion of the truck to ensure complete cleaning coverage under the control of the truck driver.
